Communication Technologies and Well-Being in Later Life

My research in this area examines how older adults use communication technologies to maintain social relationships, navigate everyday life, and support their well-being. I am particularly interested in how digital and AI-based technologies shape social connectedness, loneliness, autonomy, and psychological well-being among community-dwelling older adults. Using mixed methods—including field studies, daily diaries, interviews, surveys, and interaction data—I explore how these technologies become integrated into older adults’ routines, the benefits and challenges they experience, and how individual and social circumstances shape their use. This work aims to inform the development of more inclusive, accessible, and human-centered technologies that support meaningful communication and connection in later life.
